Online bachelor’s degrees are a great way to get started on your career path. While you may think that getting a bachelor’s degree means you need to go to classes and sit in a classroom, there are many ways to earn this type of degree online.

Just because you can do it from home doesn’t mean you have access to fewer opportunities than someone who earned a bachelor’s at a traditional university. Many people who earn their degree online find themselves with more flexibility than those who attend traditional schools.

That being said, here are a few types of jobs you can do with an online bachelor’s degree.

#1 Nurse Practitioner

Nurse practitioners are healthcare professionals who can diagnose and treat patients. They typically work in hospitals and clinics, but they can also be found in private practice or working with physicians.

Nurse practitioners must complete an online bachelor’s degree program and then a master’s degree to practice as nurse practitioners. Typically, these programs take 2-3 years to complete, although some accelerated online nursing programs exist for those who have already completed their undergraduate degrees in nursing or another related field. Despite being fast-paced, these accelerated programs cover the necessary topics in enough detail such that you won’t have any trouble entering the professional field.

#2 Web Developer

Web developers design, build, and maintain websites. If you’re interested in web development, you’ll be able to use your online bachelor’s degree to complete projects that help improve a company’s website.

You can also use the knowledge you gained by earning an online bachelor’s degree to become a software engineer or project manager at a company that needs someone who can create new programming languages or manage their current ones.

Working as a web developer doesn’t require any experience before starting on this career path; however, it does require that you have some basic skills before applying for jobs with different companies. Some of these include knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, SQL database management, server administration, etc.

Web developers in the U.S. earn upwards of $70,000 a year. More importantly, the job’s demand is likely to grow by 23% between 2021 and 2031. Thus, you can rest assured that there will be plenty of opportunities out there for the field to accommodate you and your skills.

#3 Software Engineer

There are many different types of companies that need software engineers’ skills, from large corporations to small businesses and nonprofits. They all use their services to create innovative applications or improve existing ones.

In this career path, you’ll be responsible for everything from designing new programs and applications to implementing them on computers or other devices such as smartphones or tablets. Your job also involves testing out these programs before they go live so that any bugs can be fixed before customers encounter them through regular usage.

Software engineers earn upwards of $100,000 a year in the U.S. Like web development, software engineering is also a job that’s growing in demand. The field already employs over a million people in the United States. Soon, that number will increase and might even double at some point.

#4 SEO Specialist (Search Engine Optimization)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving the visibility of a website in search engines. To do this, an SEO specialist will look at factors such as keyword density and backlinks to improve a site’s online presence. People with bachelor’s degrees in business often choose to enter this career field because they know how to drive traffic to websites and improve their visibility on search engines.

#5 Marketing

Marketing is the process of promoting and selling products or services to customers. It’s a very broad field that can be done for a business, nonprofit organization, or even an individual.

Professionals in marketing research what types of products consumers want and how much they are willing to pay for them. They also try to determine how best to promote those products so that customers will be interested in buying them.

There are over 280,000 marketing managers in the United States right now. Many more executives are working under them. The field is full of opportunities for those eager to give it a shot. Thus, you can rest assured that there are opportunities for you, too, to shine in this profession.

#6 Teaching

Teaching is a rewarding career, and there are many different types of teaching positions available. You can work in private schools, public schools, or universities.

Teachers generally earn good salaries and have the opportunity to work with young people. To be certified as an educator, you must complete a bachelor’s degree program and pass state-mandated tests. You can do so online, which is why many teachers these days complete their bachelor’s and even master’s program online. Many universities offer online Ed.D. programs too.

Having an undergraduate degree is vital for landing your first job. However, it’s not necessary that your degree has to come out of a college or university that only takes in-person classes. Online bachelor’s degrees can work just as well in helping you land your dream job.
